Celebrate Spooky Season With Your Pup

Updated: Oct 28

Halloween isn’t just for humans—your dog can join in on the fun too! Whether your furry friend loves dressing up, exploring new places, or meeting other dogs, there are plenty of dog-friendly Halloween events and activities to enjoy.

1. Local Dog Costume Contests

  • Many towns and pet stores host dog costume contests where dogs of all breeds and sizes can show off their spooky (or adorable!) outfits. Look for contests at your local parks, pet supply stores, or community centers.

2. Dog-Friendly Halloween Parades

  • A Halloween parade is the perfect chance to get out and socialize while showing off your dog’s costume. Many cities and communities host dog-friendly Halloween parades, where dogs and their owners walk a designated route while being cheered on by crowds. These parades often include a costume contest component, along with food trucks, vendors, and other dog-friendly activities. Popular parades may even feature live music and dog-themed giveaways!

3. Pumpkin Patch Visits

  • Many pumpkin patches are dog-friendly, and fall wouldn’t be complete without a visit to one! A pumpkin patch visit offers a wonderful opportunity for your dog to explore a new environment while you pick out the perfect pumpkin. Some pumpkin patches even offer special dog days or events during the Halloween season, with activities like pumpkin picking, pet photo booths, and dog-themed treats.

4. Dog Halloween Festivals

  • Many communities host fall festivals with special events just for dogs. These festivals often feature activities like agility courses, dog trick-or-treating, and food vendors that cater to pups. Your dog can enjoy meeting other dogs, playing games, and trying out new toys/treats.

5. Dog Trick-or-Treating (Howl-O-Ween)

  • Trick-or-treating isn’t just for kids! Some communities and pet stores host special dog trick-or-treating events. At these events, dogs go from booth to booth or house to house to collect treats. Participants are usually given a map to visit designated stops, where friendly vendors or volunteers hand out dog treats, toys, and other goodies.

6. Pet-Friendly Haunted Walks

  • For dogs who enjoy a good walk, consider a pet-friendly haunted walk! These events typically take place in parks or along trails decorated with spooky props and actors. Some haunted walks even feature pet-safe zones where dogs can roam around off-leash. It’s a fun way to give your dog some exercise while embracing the spooky vibes of Halloween.

7. Halloween-Themed Doggy Daycare Parties

  • If you’re working or unable to attend events during the day, many doggy daycare centers host special Halloween parties for their furry clients. These parties often include costume contests, festive games, and treats. You can drop your dog off to enjoy a day of Halloween fun, complete with photos of your dog in costume sent to you afterward!

Whether you’re heading out to a local dog parade, visiting a pumpkin patch, or enjoying a virtual costume contest, there’s no shortage of dog-friendly Halloween events this season. Get your dog into the spirit of spooky fun and make this Halloween one to remember!
